Hawaii pronounced /h?'wa??i/ elsewhere in the world and by local Hawaiians as [h?'w?(?), is the 50th state and the last one to receive its statehood from the United States of America. Hawaii is composed mainly of islands and the only U.S. state located outside the continent of America. It is physiographically the northernmost island group in Polynesia and is ethnologically considered part of the Polynesian sub-region Oceania. Daylight saving time is not observed in Hawaii.
